SUPPLYING HIGH VOLTAGE SHORE CONNECTION (HVSC) SYSTEM USING ENERGY EFFICIENT EQUIPMENT IN THE GREAT PORT OF VALLETTA
MALTA
The project allows cruise ships and cargo ships to shut down their kerosene or heavy fuel oil engines while docked and plug in shore electricity to power their onboard systems.
Project scope
-Construction of Frequency Converter Station buildings ( FCS 1 and FCS 3)
-33kV supply to FCS1 and FCS3 buildings from Marsa North DC
-Two lengths of 33kV submarine cable and communication/fiber optic cable installation
- Supply and installation of all 11 kV cables
-100 mm heavy-duty PVC duct, communication cable and fiber optic cable (50 mm HDPE inside duct) supply and installation
-Construction of a fairly long culvert and canal bank
-High-level steel support structure
-Provision of LV/ELV systems
-Restoration of historical building (including facing stone, culverts, steel structure, interior walls, roofing)
-Providing asphalt works
-Operation of the HVSC system at five berths for two years
